INFORMATION EXPEDITION

Not so long ago in this country, when a child with a handicap was born into a family, he or she would be locked away into an institution. Sometimes they were simply warehoused, rather than taught useful skills for living. The family often was embarrased and ashamed of the child.

This attitude still persists in many other countries. Johnson Masuka of Bulawayo, Zijmbabwe, who works with disabled people in his homeland, is trying to change that kind of thinking in his part of the world.
