PENNINGTON GOES DISTANCE AT FRANKLIN CO.

Frankie Pennington led from green flag to checkered flag in the 75-lap Late Model feature race of the B-99.9 FM 300 on Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway.

The victory was Pennington's second in July and moved him into the track's top 10 in points.

Points leader Dudley Lawhorn was a close second, shadowing Pennington for most of the race. Two-time winner Steve Lynch was third. Harvey Harrison and Kenny Wagner finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

In other races Saturday night:

Starting from the sixth position, Steve Lam moved to the lead in the middle of the Mini Stock race and went on to his 15th victory of the year. Tommy Dean and Sonny Arrington were second and third, respectively.

Mike Owens overtook points leader and second-place finisher Red Hartman midway through the Pure Stock race, winning for the first time since May. Jay Peery was third.

Mike Dudley returned to the winner's circle in the Street Stock competition, outrunning Mike Elkins (second) and Phillip VanDerVeer (third).

Teddy Lawless won the inaugural truck race of 1994.

The Rookie race was marred by several early crashes and was not completed at press time.
