Southern Conference baseball officials have learned the league has regained its automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for 1995.
The NCAA determines which conferences receive automatic bids in baseball by compiling a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for each league as it does in basketball. Although exact RPI figures were not released for 1994, the NCAA ranked the Southern Conference 17th. among 32 baseball leagues. Two Southern Conference teams still made the '94 tournament: tournament champion The Citadel, as the winner of a play-in game; and regular-season champion Western Carolina, as an at-large team.
