NAMES ON CAMPUS

HARLEY JOHNSON graduated with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in engineering science and mechanics. Harley is the son of Thomas and Sylvia Johnson of Christiansburg.

CHARLES HEIKKENEN graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston on May 21. Heikkenen is a resident in internal medicine at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He is the son of Herman and Gail Heikkenen of Blacksburg.

NELSON LAFON, a 1994 Virginia Tech graduate from the College of Forestry and Wildlife Resources, received the Forestry Service in Escalante, Utah. Nelson is the son of Thade and Pearl Lafon of Pulaski.

WILLIAM and JOHN STUART were awarded scholarships from the Tri-State Mothers of Twins Club. William is studying landscape architecture at West Virginia University in Morgantown. John is studying geology at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. They are the twin sons of Bill and Diane Stuart of Blacksburg.

Ten New River Valley residents graduated from the College of Health Sciences in Roanoke. JEFFREY SARABOk and KENNETH REED of Radford; ELIZABETH MEEK, SHARON RATCLIFFE and TAMELA RUTLEDGE of Christiansburg; and MADELINE EITANI of Blacksburg received associate degrees in nursing education.

PAMELA HICKS-HANKINS of Pilot and CHARLOTTE HOLT of Riner received associate degrees in respiratory care. CARMEN ELLIOTT of Christiansburg graduated with an associate degree from the physical therapist assistant program. WANDA MILLER, also of Christiansburg, received a phlebotomy technician certificate.

The National Business College in Roanoke recently awarded degrees to 24 local residents. CATHY CARTER of Radford received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration-accounting. ROBIN BANE of Christiansburg and DELORES SLOSS of Blacksburg graduated with associate degrees in travel and tourism. MICHELLE GATES of Christiansburg received an associate degree in computer applications management.

DONNA ATKINSON, DIANA COTTRELL and MELANIE OVERLY of Elliston; BECKY BOWLES, MARK CANTARA and LAURIE ANN CONNOR of Christiansburg; BARBARA COVEY and ANGELA ROTRUCK of Dublin; and ROBIN BURNETTE of Radford received associate degrees in medical assisting.

WANDA ATKINSON of Shawsville, KIRK BISHOP of Christiansburg and ANGELA TALLANT of Radford graduated with associate degrees in business administration-management. DEBORAH DAVIS, PHILLIP MARTIN and TAMMY STEELE of Christiansburg, MISTIE MONTGOMERY of Blacksburg and SARAH SARTIN of Radford received associate degrees in business administration-accounting.

REBECCA BRAMMER of Christiansburg and LISA CRIGGER of Narrows were awarded degrees in office administration. LARRY EPPERLY of Shawsville received an associate degree in hospitality management. ERICA KIRKNER and JULIANN POFF of Christiansburg and SCARLET GILSON of Elliston received professional secretarial degrees.
