Lifelong learning

RADFORD - Radford University will sponsor a conference of the Virginia Adult Institute of Lifelong Learning Wednesday through July 29. About 250 literacy and adult education teachers from throughout the state are expected to attend.

"Choices and Challenges" will be the theme of the conference, and will focus on issues, materials and legislation, said Jane Swing, Radford University's coordinator of adult education.

The Clinton administration has called for closer coordination among agencies that encourage adult education. Some adult-education teachers fear possible funding cuts when the federal Adult Education Act is reviewed next year.

In addition to legislative concerns, the conference will also look at the use of new technology, new ways of assessing learning, research and a trend toward providing educational services at the workplace. Call 831-5324 .
