The boy, whose name was not released, was riding on a tool box in the back of the truck driven by his brother, another juvenile, according to a Blacksburg Police Department news release. As they turned into the parking lot of the Deli-Mart on North Main Street, the truck hit a dip and bounced the boy onto the pavement, the release said.
The boy was conscious when police and rescue workers arrived. He was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital to be treated for abrasions and a possible concussion and was later moved to Roanoke Memorial Hospital because his injuries worsened, the release said.
No charges have been filed.
