CHILDREN'S LITERATURE CELEBRATED

The third annual Celebration of Children's Literature will take place on Wednesday, August 3, at the Virginia Highlands Community College Learning Center audtorium in Abingdon.

This year's celebration features two established authors of children's books. Patricia MacLaughlin is known best for her novels (and screenplays for) "Sarah, Plain and Tall" and "Skylark." David Wisiewski is a circus clown turned writer. Among his books are "Dundiata: Lion King of Mali," "Elfwyn's Saga" and "Rain Player." Gary Paulsen, author of "Dogsong" and "Hatchet" will appear via telephone.

The celebration is sponsored by the University of Virginia Southwest Center as part of the Virginia Highlands Festival. Tuition, including lunch, is $50.
