RELIGION BRIEFS

THE ROANOKE VALLEY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN BAPTISTS recently sent 96 young women to a national Acteen convention in Birmingham, Ala. They were among 587 Acteens from across Virginia. The Roanoke Valley delegation was led by Sue Ellen Tyree of Vinton.

At a 25th anniversary Acteen party, Gretchen Fritz, a recent graduate of William Byrd High School, represented Virginia. Fritz was the state citation winner for Virginia Acteens.

THE REV. JOSEPH LOTTS, a former pastor of Belmont United Methodist Church, has returned to the Roanoke Valley for retirement. Lotts, who has completed 34 years in the ordained ministry, will be affiliated with Huntington Court United Methodist Church.

VOICES OF YOUTH, a United Methodist choir that spends a month each summer singing throughout the Virginia Conference and engages in a mission work project, will visit Bonsack United Methodist Church on Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m..

NEIGHBORHOOD BIBLE TIME, a summer program at Colonial Baptist Church, 106 Hillcrest St., Blue Ridge, will be in session Sunday through Aug. 5 nightly at 7. Activities are provided for pre-school children through adults. Call 977-5683 for more information.
