BOY FOUND IN CAR PRONOUNCED DEAD

A 17-year-old Vinton boy was pronounced dead after being found Wednesday night behind the wheel of a car in the Falling Creek subdivision, Roanoke County police said.

The cause of Jason Edward Ferguson's death is under investigation. A sergeant did not know Thursday afternoon whether the William Byrd High School student was dead at the time he was found or died later at a hospital.

Police found the boy's car in a ditch on eastbound Toddsbury Drive, near Toddsbury Circle, about 8:15 p.m. They think he had some type of medical problem that caused him to black out and his car to run off the road.
