THE TENTS GO UP: IT'S TIME FOR THE SUMMER REVIVALS

It's CAMP MEETING and TENT REVIVAL time:

Cornerstone Fellowship (formerly St. John's Fellowship) holds a tent revival Sunday through next Sunday in Christiansburg. Sunday services 6 p.m. Weeknight services are at 7:30. Sunday, Aug. 7, there will be an 11 a.m. service and dinner on the grounds follows.

Music every evening includes The Farley Brothers on Tuesday, Gospel Truth on Thursday and The Pfeiffers on Friday.

Take Exit 114 from I-81 and head south on Riner Road (Virginia 8). Then, turn west on Flanigan Road (service road) and go approximately one-half mile to the tent. Pastor Charles Smith, 381-2887.

Christiansburg's Camp Christi, 4704 Roanoke Road, is the site for the week-long Statewide Camp meeting of the Churches of God, headquartered in Anderson, Ind. Evangelist is the Rev. Jon Lambert. The camp meeting starts Monday and continues through next Sunday.

First Church of God, South Franklin and Alleghany streets, holds a camp meeting prelude service Sunday at 6 p.m. On hand will be gospel performers Michael and Craig Patty, brothers of Sandi Patti, the Grammy and Dove award winner. Worship services Sunday morning are at 8:30 and 10:45. Sunday school is at 9:45. A nursery and children's church program for second grade and younger is offered during the 10:45 service.

The 84th annual camp meeting at Piedmont Campground continues through Sunday with the Rev. Bob Ely, evangelist. Services 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. daily and Sundays at 10 a.m. Children's service at 10 a.m. daily. The campground is at 5007 Jewell Drive (seven miles from U.S. 460 off Alleghany Springs Road), Shawsville. 268-2163.

The 35th interdenominational Holiness Camp Meeting, with the rev. Guy Hartsock of Bassett, Va., is Thursday through Aug. 14 at Bible Holiness Church, 611 S. Franklin St., Christiansburg. Services daily at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Children's service daily at 6:30 p.m. Pastor H. D. Sawyer, 382-8743.

HAPPENINGS:

Trinity Baptist Church, Christiansburg, celebrates its 25th anniversary today at 7 p.m. and Sunday during both services. The Rev. Dr. Danny Lovett, professor of evangelism at Liberty University, is guest speaker. Music, and nursery for pre-schoolers.

The summer reading program at Radford Church of God in Christ, Russell Avenue, meets Monday and Thursday evenings, 6:30-8, through Aug. 18, for storytelling, creative writing, library trips and refreshments. The church needs good, used books for this educational endeavor. 639-5948.
