JORDAN SOCKS 1ST HOME RUN

Former NBA great Michael Jordan hit his first home run as a professional baseball player and added an RBI double as he helped the Birmingham Barons to a 6-1 victory over the Carolina Mudcats in the Southern League on Saturday night.

Jordan, who finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base, homered in the eighth inning. The solo shot came in his 354th at-bat with Birmingham and increased his average to .189. The double was his 16th of the season.
