Christiansburg police said they found 297 packages of the headache medications in the couple's car after responding to a shoplifting complaint from Wal-Mart workers
Lt. Doug Marrs said Mildred Story Shultz, 65, has been charged with felony shoplifting, and her husband, Robert Lee Shultz, 56, has been charged with misdemeanor shoplifting.
Marrs said police suspect that the packages were taken out of the store in a handbag. The Shultzes gave written statements, Marrs said, that they had used a similar plan in the past few weeks to take the aspirin substitutes from stores in Galax, Waynesboro, Marion, Abingdon, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville and other localities.
The couple said they would take the 100-count packages to flea markets and sell them, Marrs said.
