Because of a reporter's error, the late Marion Via's first name was misspelled in a story Thursday.

\ Norfolk Southern Corp. bid $1.9 billion for Conrail Inc. in 1986. Because of a reporter's error, a story on Thursday reported an incorrect figure. Also, the same story misspelled the name of Jeffrey Medford, a railroad analyst with Wheat First Butcher Singer in Richmond.
