NAMES ON CAMPUS

WILLIAM B. LEY, an associate professor in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, spent almost three weeks in Mongolia as part of a team of veterinarians helping that country increase its food production capabilities through improved animal agricultural practices. Ley's work in Mongolia was sponsored by Christian Veterinary Mission, a division of World Concern in Seattle, Wash.

MARK SMITH, an associate professor in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, was awarded a 1994 American Kennel Club Excellence in Canine Research Award by the American Veterinary Medical Association's Council on Research.

Assistant professor DORIS KINCADE of the Department of Clothing and Textiles in the College of Human Resources has been named to the "1994 Who's Who in Education."

RINN CLOUD, an associate professor and assistant department head of the Department of Clothing and Textiles in the College of Human Resources, received a $1,500 scholarship from the Association of Administrators of Home Economics to attend a leadership development course.

PEGGY S. MESZAROS, dean of the College of Human Resources, was inducted as president of the American Home Economics Association at its annual meeting in San Diego.

PAMELA WEAVER, professor of hospitality and tourism management, received the John Wiley and Sons Award given by the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education at its annual conference in Palm Springs, Calif.

The award recognizes a council member for lifetime contributions to outstanding scholarship and research.

MICHAEL J. SPORAKOWSKI, professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Family and Child Development in the College of Human Resources, has been elected president of the National Council on Family Relations. He will assume the duties of president in November 1995.

SHARON DWYER, a doctoral student in family studies in the Department of Family and Child Development, has been elected to serve as a Student/New Professional Relations representative of the National Council on Family Relations.

Gov. George Allen named VICTORIA R. FU, a professor in the Department of Family and Child Development in the College of Human Resources, to the board of trustees of the Virginia Family and Children's Trust Fund.

PAT LINDSEY, a doctoral student in the Department of Housing, Interior Design, and Resource Management in the College of Human Resources, was awarded the NASA summer faculty fellowship to work in the NASA virtual reality facility in Huntsville, Ala.

SALLY HARRIS, public relations coordinator for the College of Arts and Sciences, won second prize in the short story category of the National Federation of Press Women communications contest. Harris' entry, "The Haircut," was published in The Appalachian Log.

RONALD E. PEARSON, professor of dairy science, was honored with the 1994 J.L. Lush Award in Animal Breeding for his contributions to the advancement of dairy cattle breeding at the annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association in Minneapolis.

GEORGE E. MORGAN, finance professor in the Pamplin College of Business, has been named executive director of the Center for Commercial Space Communications. The center, formed in 1991, applies university resources to the growing opportunities in commercial space communications.

STANFORD RITCHEY, professor of human nutrition and foods, received the 1994 American Home Economics Association Foundation's distinguished service award. Ritchey has worked for 35 years in the home economics and nutrition fields.
