'LOVE AFFAIR' IS ONE YOU'VE SEEN BEFORE

The oughta be a law: Remakes of old Hollywood classics ought to have something new to say or offer an originial twist.

But "Love Affair," starring Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, so dutifully follows the plot line of the original and "An Affair to Remember," that it seems self-conscious and is, at times, downright dull. Beatty and Bening are two lovely people wearing lovely clothes in lovely settings, and although Bening is better than ever, there doesn't seem much reason to pay attention to this movie for two hours. It's like looking at a snapshot.
