POLICE INVESTIGATING GAS-STATION ROBBERY

A Roanoke Street service station was robbed early Monday morning, Christiansburg police said.

Police gave this account of the armed robbery:

A man entered Stop In No. 40 near the Days Inn motel at 3:24 a.m., told the cashier he had a gun in his coat, ordered the cashier to open both cash register drawers and to get out of the way.

The man then took an undisclosed amount of money, left the store and ran.

The clerk described the man as a white male, about 6 feet tall, medium build, wearing a dark blue sweat jacket, Levi "orange tab" denim jeans, black tennis shoes, a black ski mask and brown work gloves.

Just after the man left the store, the clerk saw a light-colored Ford car turning from Tower Road onto Roanoke Street, driving west toward Interstate 81.

An investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Christiansburg Police Department at 382-3131.
