WVVV MAKES EVERYONE WINNERS

It's one of those "win-win" situations: Rock 105, WVVV (104.9 FM) has free music, T-shirts, dinners, movie tickets and other "fabulous gifts" today for those who take part in the MARCH OF DIMES WALKAMERICA in Blacksburg. Registration is at 9 a.m., and the walk starts at 10 at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School on Toms Creek Road.

The walk helps raise money to reduce birth defects. The station hopes to sign up at least 105 sponsored walkers. For more information, call 381-0111.

A new video program of contemporary Christian music, "The Edge", makes its debut Wednesday, 7 p.m., on WTOB (Channel 2), Blacksburg public-government access television. The program is produced locally by Shaun McCullough and the Baptist Student Union.

Bob Travis of KOOL Country, WBNK (100.7 FM) broadcasts today, noon-2 p.m., from Henebry's Jewelers in the New River Valley Mall.

Monday, 4-6 p.m., personalities from Classic Country, WRAD (1460 AM) and CD Country, WRIQ (101.7 FM) broadcast live during the Halloween activities at New River Valley Mall to promote safe trick-or treating. Bob Thomas, Marcia Witt and others will be in costume to get into the spirit of things. There's a haunted house and magician at the mall Monday evening, 6-8:30.

Rock 105, WVVV (104.9 FM) broadcasts live Tuesday, noon-1 p.m., from the lawn of Shultz Hall, Virginia Tech, to help Zeta Beta Tau welcome The Connells and Lotion in concert that night. Prizes and gifts.

Personalities from Eagle Country 107, WPSK (107.1 FM) broadcast from the NASCAR Memorabilia Show Friday, 5-9 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the UAW Meeting Hall, 5110 Cougar Trail Road, Dublin (across from the Volvo GM plant). Proceeds from the show will help disadvantaged children and the children's Christmas drive.

14-K, WKEX (1430 AM) broadcasts from the Shawsville Crafts Show Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-noon., at Shawsville Elementary School, U.S. 11-460. Bob Smith and the WKEX Happy Clown will join the more than 55 crafters and will have prizes and freebies for visitors. Admission is free.

Levi Garrett of KOOL Country, WBNK (100.7 FM) is the host of Country and Western nights Thursdays, 5-7 p.m., at Pizza Inn in downtown Christiansburg.

"Armchair Quarterback:" Today, 9-10 a.m., on Super 710, WFNR (710 AM), a live broadcast from Miami, Fla., where the Virginia Tech Hokies meet the Hurricanes. Levi Garrett moderates a panel of sports experts who tackle listeners' questions and comments on area and regional sports.

West Virginia University football: Today, the Mountaineers meet Louisiana Tech in Morgantown. The game airs at 12:30 p.m. on WFNR (710 AM).

Virginia Tech football: Today, the Hokies travel to Miami to take on the Hurricanes. Air time is 2:30 p.m. on WNRV (990 AM), WJJJ (1260 AM), WKEX (1430 AM), WRAD (1460 AM), WRIQ (101.7 FM) and WVVV (104.9 FM). "The Point After" call-in show follows on many Tech sports network affiliates.

Washington Redskins: Sunday, the 'skins are back at R.F.K Stadium to face the Philadelphia Eagles. The game airs at noon on WFNR (710 AM).

The hourlong Halloween edition of "American Indigenous," Monday at 7 p.m. on Radford University's student-run WVRU (89.9 FM), gets under way with "The Tell-Tale Heart." A special presentation from the university's Center for Media Arts and Technology follows.

"It's Your Time," the New River Valley's longest-running buy, sell and trade show, is on the air Monday through Friday, 9-10 a.m., on WFNR (710 AM). Host Bob Travis also offers community announcements and information. 382-6106.

"Long Live Rock" airs the second of a four-part series on The Who on Tuesday, 8 p.m. on WVRU (89.9 FM). This edition covers 1969 and 1970, including the rock opera "Tommy" and the album "Live at Leeds."

On "Talk of the Town," Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 1 p.m. on WVRU (89.9 FM), ABC and NPR news correspondent Cokie Roberts discusses the political climate, including Virginia's U.S. Senate race.
