BANE, Barbara Grace, 47, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 1994 in Abingdon, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Miller Bane Sr. and Elizabeth Richardson Bane of Grundy, Virginia and her brother, Bill David Bane of Roanoke, Virginia. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Eugene M. Bane Jr. and Becky Bane of Salem; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Stanley and Dr. W. McCall Stanley. Her nieces and nephews are Michelle Worley Foss, Mike Worley, Beth Worley, Katye Stuart Bane, Ember Bane and Anne Bane. Barbara spent the first 21 years of her life enriching the lives of her family in Grundy and then the next 26 years were spent happily in Cedar Lawn Nursing Home where she was dearly loved and was treated so well by the nursing staff. She blessed many with her sweet ways even though she couldn't speak. Graveside services will be at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Virginia at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4, with the Reverend Mr. Jim Riach officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Buchanan First Presbyterian Church of Grundy, Virginia or ARC, P.O. Box 6157, Roanoke, VA 24017. Arrangements are being handled by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

BOYD, George Fay, 77, of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 1994, in the Virginia Veterans Care Center. He is survived by one brother, Jabe Boyd, Floyd; two sisters, Clarice Harter, Floyd, Opal Phillips, Stuart; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 1994, at Gardner Funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Boyd Family Cemetery, Meadows of Dan. CUNDIFF, Bernard Russell Sr., 80, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born November 9, 1913, in Bedford County, a son of the late William Henry Clay Cundiff and Roberta Bell Johnson Cundiff. He was a member of the Bedford Christian Church, a former employee of Piedmont Label, retiring after 49 years service, the longest in the company's history, a member of the Bedford Volunteer Fire D epartment for 45 years, being a life member, was past Fire Chief and City Fire Inspector, and was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #1897. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jack Calvin Reid Jr. He is survived by his wife, Gaynelle Fulton Cundiff; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn C. and Bill Patterson, Norma Jean and Jack Reid, all of Bedford, Judy Cundiff and Steve Philo, Roanoke, Janice Marie and Carl Wagner, Cheraw, S.C.; a son, Bernard R. Cundiff Jr., Rising Sun, Md.; a brother, George W. Cundiff, Lynchburg; a sister, Fleta Wood, St. Petersburg, Fla.; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 4, 1994, at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Wessley Patterson and Rev. Ken Burger. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. DEWS, Mary Ollie Walker, 94, of Fork Farm, Iron Gate died Tuesday, November 1, 1994 at her residence. She was born in Floyd County on April 7, 1900, daughter of the late George W. Walker and Rena Josephine Simmons Walker. She was the widow of Everitt Dew and member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Zaynel Dew, Fork Farm, Iron Gate and Ralph Dew of Rt. 1, Eagle Rock; one sister, Mrs. Roy (Virginia) Sullender of Waynesboro; one grandson, Dennis Wayne Dew and granddaughter-in-law, Ellen Tonda Dew of Rt. 1, Eagle Rock; one great-granddaughter, Leigh Ann Dew of CLifton Forge; two stepgreat-grandsons, Tai and Taylor Sanders of Rt. 1, Eagle Rock. Funeral services will be held Friday 2 p.m. Nicely Funeral Home Chapel, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Jeff Etheridge officiating, interment to follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. DOVE, Howard MacArthur, 52, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, November 1, 1994, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County on August 9, 1942, and was preceded in death by his father, John Howard Dove. Veteran of the Vietnam era serving as a Green beret. Howard was a world reknowned master of firearms engraver, he was one of only two men in the modern era to be employed in that capacity by the Custom Shops of both Colt and Winchester at the same time. Especially appreciated for the quality of his inlay work, Mr. Dove's clientele has included such luminaries as Gene Autry, Sammy Davis Jr., Hank Williams Jr., John Wayne, Michael Wayne, Tom Sellick, former Louisiana Governor Edmond W. Edwards and Prince Kalad, of India. Known as the ``Official Engraver'' to the Colt Collectors Association, the Single Action Army revolver he embellished for their 1992 meeting and gun show fetched the highest price ever paid for a new non-commemorative firearm sold at auction. The proceeds were to benefit the association. Howard's talents have contributed immeasurably to the art and craft of engraving, the shooting sports and the gun collecting fraternity. Howard is survived by his wife, Linda F. Dove; a son, Anthony Scott Dove, Jupiter, Fla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Doug Roop, Christiansburg, Gidget Dove-Price and Joe Price, Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Heather, Justin, Cheyanne, Matthew, Addison; his mother, Claudine Dove, Blacksburg; two brothers and sister-in-law, Carl and Ellen Dove, Blacksburg, Ronnie and Julie Dove, Pilot; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Danny Meadows, Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, November 4, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Blacksburg, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Kittinger and the Rev. Harold Taylor. FERGUSON, Jennie Mae Blankenship, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 1994. She was the widow of Jesse Franklin Ferguson. Survivors include one daughter, Jane Elizabeth Stevens, Chamblissburg; four sons, James L. Ferguson, Newport News, Jackie B. Ferguson, Jerry F. Ferguson and Joey L. Ferguson, all of Roanoke; devoted daughters-in-law, Chun Ja (``Skipper'') Ferguson, Mamie Rose Delp Ferguson, Teeinna Ferguson; a devoted son-in-law, Kenneth L. Stevens; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 1994, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Robert L. Painter and Elder W. T. FERGUSON, Paul C., 59, of 22231 Adamo, Laguna Hills, Calif., 92653, died Wednesday, November 2, 1994. He was the son of the late Ernest and Maggie Ferguson of Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Michael Schuda of Foot Hill Ranch, Calif.; one granddaughter, Elise Schuda; one grandson, Eric Schuda; both of Foot Hill Ranch, Calif.; four brothers, Eugene and Ralph, both of Roanoke, David of Moneta, Grover of Montgomery, Texas; three sisters, Lucy Johnson and Nancy Jordan, both of Blue Ridge, Betty Wandell of Oxford, N.C. FORKOIS, Elizabeth Catherine, 81, of Catawba, died Monday, October 31, 1994. She is survived by a brother, Harold M. Forkois Sr.; nephews and niece, Harold M. Forkois Jr., Jerald L. GREEN, Virgie Gordon, 44, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November 1, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy C. Green, Sr. Surviving are her children, Teddy C. Green, Jr., Petula L. Green, and Virgie LeMay Green, all of Roanoke; two grandsons, Gabriel and Joseph; also surviving is her mother, Evelyn J. HORNICK, Dean Philip, 48, of Hardy, died Tuesday, November 1, 1994 in a local hospital. Surviving are his wife, Martha D. MEISS, Paul H., 73, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 1994, in a local hospital. He was a member of the BFW Post #1264. Surviving are his wife, Bessie M. MILES, James Russell, 86, of Merritt Island, Fla., died Saturday, October 15, 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Belcher; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Miles, Kimball, W.Va.; one brother, Robert Miles; his grandparents, Captain Robert E. Miles and wife, a Civil War Veteran from Montgomery Co. Survivors are three sons, James H. Miles Jr. and family, Alexandria, Va., W. Joseph Miles and family, Clayton, Missouri, Dr. Thomas P. Miles and family, Santa Rosa, Calif.; one brother, Ward P. REED, Walter Kermit Sr., 64, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, November 2, 1994 in a Roanoke Hospital. He was retired from Schwerman Trucking Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy K. Reed and grandson, Scott C. Reed. Surviving are his wife, Helen Wampler Reed; son, Walter K. SISSON, John Carroll, 25, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, November 1, 1994, in a Roanoke hospital. He was born December 15, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Charles Clinton Sisson, Staunton and Jeanne Kerr Cross, Charlottesville. He was graduate of Albemarle High School and attended Roanoke College. He was employed by Virginia Building Services and served with the U.S. Navy during the Persian Gulf Operation, Desert Storm. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Richard Kerr Sisson, Charlottesville; stepfather, Robert L. Cross, Charlottesville; stepmother, Lynn Sisson, Staunton; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Sisson, Silver Spring, Md.; maternal grandparents, Mr. Richard Kerr and the late Anna Crozier Kerr; and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 1994, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Charlottesville conducted by Pastor Robert Holley. WASHINGTON, Ishan Rachais Brooks, 17, of Rt. 6, Rocky Mount, died Monday, October 31, 1994. He was the son of George F. and Pamela Brooks Washington, Rocky Mount. He is also survived by one sister, Ashely A. Washington, of the home; one brother, George A. Washington III, of the home; grandmother, Mrs. Rachel A. Brooks, East Orange, N.J.; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, 1 p.m. at Franklin County High School Auditorium by the Rev. WORMACK, Ira Jesse Sr., 83, of Hollins, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 1994. He was veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired physical therapist. Survivors include two sons, Ira J. (Anne) Wormack, Roanoke and Ronald S. (Ann) Wormack, Suffolk, England; one daughter, Sherdena M. Wormack, Baltimore, Md.; one god-daughter, Frances Watson, Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Bertha Neal and Gertrude Brown, both of Ph iladelphia, Penn., Clara May, Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, Mark, Ruth, David, Tracy, Kelly, and Michael; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
