CREDIT-CARD FRAUD CHARGE

A Christiansburg man who worked at two area motels has been charged with credit card fraud.

Christiansburg police charged Michael Steve Hall, 37, of the 300 block of Walters Drive, with 10 counts of credit card fraud, 11 counts of credit card forgery and two counts of theft of credit card numbers.

Police say a search of Hall's vehicle yielded 45 credit card slips with a total credit line of $130,000. Hall said he found out where the Days Inn in Christiansburg and the Comfort Inn in Radford put their slips, according to Lt. Doug Marrs.

But managers at both motels confirmed Wednesday that he is a former employee.

Hall used the credit numbers to make $1,000 worth of purchases from QVC, JCPenney, Radio Shack and the Salem Civic Center, Marrs said.

Hall, who was charged Oct. 26, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail with no bond.
