Capt. Riley Peters said firefighters received a call at 5:13 p.m. for the house at 4519 Pennsylvania Ave. N.E. The fire began in the downstairs heater, ran up through the chimney and consumed much of the upstairs and attic before being extinguished.
No one was injured, Peters said, but the fire caused about $30,000 in damage to the home and belongings.
