BULLDOGS WIN PIEDMONT

RIDGEWAY - Regular-season champion Martinsville held off Fieldale- Collinsville 57-54 by stalling away most of the fourth quarter and pulling out the Blue Ridge District tournament championship on Saturday.

Sam Ferguson hit two free throws with 9 seconds to play to extend Martinsville's lead to three points. Martinsville plays in the Region III semifinals Thursday against the William Byrd-Liberty winner. Fieldale- Collinsville plays Salem next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in a Region III first-round game at Magna Vista.

Mountain Empire

Galax 60, Fort Chiswell 39: The Maroon Tide won the tournament finals at Galax. Galax hosts Parry McCluer in the Region C tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m. Fort Chiswell travels to Castlewood for regional game Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Pioneer District

Glenvar 57, Parry McCluer 30: Glenvar cruised to a victory in the championship game. The Highlanders (20-2) open the Region C tournament at home at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Auburn. The Fighting Blues (15-6) travel to Galax on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. Region C game.
