BLAIR, Lloyd N., 73, of Abingdon, died Monday, November 14, 1994 at his home. He was a native of Wythe County, Va., and had lived in Abingdon since 1940. He had been associated with the livestock market business since 1940 in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He was president of Tri-State Livestock Market and was a real estate broker for Blair Brothers Real Estate in Wytheville. He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army/Air Corp., serving in World War II. He is survived by one son, Frank Blair, Abingdon; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie (``Sandra'') Jonas, Abingdon; two brothers, Foster Blair, Max Meadows, Ewing (``Pud'') Blair, Max Meadows; five sisters, Miss Helen Blair, Charleston, W. Va., Mrs. Elizabeth Dutton, Max Meadows, Mrs. Julia Holtman, Barstow, Calif., Miss Dottie Blair, Wytheville, Miss Lois Blair, Wytheville; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ginger Jonas Largen, Jonathan Jonas, Laura Blair, Sarah Blair. Funeral services for Mr. Loyd N. Blair will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Eggers, the Rev. Dr. Larry Ousley and Mr. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. BROWN, Eleanor Beatrice, 69, of Salem, died Sunday, November 13, 1994 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was lifelong Salem resident and had retired from Lewis-Gale Hospital where she had worked in the Purchasing Department. Survivors include, a sister, Mary Jo Hodges; and a long time friend, Gladys D. Wiggins, both of Salem, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 1994, at 11 a.m. at John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Samuel Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Tuesday at the funeral from 7 to 9 p.m.
BROWN, Geneva Otey, 84, of Route 1, Thaxton, died Sunday, November 13, 1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She joined the Washington Street Baptist Church at an early age and then moved her membership to the Oakmulgee Baptist Church in Bedford County. She was born February 8, 1910 in Bedford County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Brown. She leaves to mourn her loss, Frances O. Ross, Atlanta, Ga., and Russell Otey, Goode, Va., Fred Otey, Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Otey, Goode, Mary Otey, Clarksville Tenn.; two brothers, Fred Otey, Lynchburg, John Otey, Big Island; one sister, Jimmie Langhorne, Big Island; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 19, 1994 at 1 p.m. at the Oakmulgee Baptist Church in Bedford County. Interment will follow in the Brown family Cemetery in Thaxton. BRYANT, Ruth I. Anderson, 87, of North Kingsville, Ohio, formerly of Vinton, went to be with her Lord, Monday, November 14, 1994. She was a life long member of the Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church and was the widow of Ivey M. (``Mac'') Bryant. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Hayward, Boyd, Graham and W. H. (``Billy'') Anderson; two sisters, Claudine Pedigo, Audrey McCue. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyndell G. and Peggy W. Bryant, Vinton, Gordon R. and Betty D. Bryant, Roanoke; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Bryant and Eduard R. Klimpel, North Kingsville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edna D. Anderson, Roanoke County, Minnie White, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Wm. Anthony Layman and the Rev. DALTON, Vivian Marie, 73, of the Bearspring Community, Pearisburg, died Tuesday, November 15, 1994 in a Pearisburg hospital. She was born January 16, 1921 in Cumberland, Ky., the daughter of the late James Edward and Ida Brooke Bowles Meadows. She is survived by her husband, Walter Dalton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Madeline Dalton, Dickie and Diann Dalton, Mike Dalton, all of Pearisburg, Freddie and Pam Dalton, Pembroke; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Charles Combs, and Betty and Frankie Combs, Pembroke, Daisy and Jerry St.Clair, Pearisburg; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Hall, Mrs. Hazel Neice, both of Pearisburg, Mrs. Jennie Ramey, District Heights, Md., Mrs. Trula Faye Ball, Winston-Salem, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five foster grandchildren. DIAMOND, Solomon, 76, of Roanoke County, died at his home early Tuesday, November 15, 1994. He was a retired medical technologist with the V.A. Hospital, a member of B'nai B'rith, and a volunteer at RAM House. He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II, serving overseas in New Caladonia, the Philippines, and Japan. Surviving are his brother, Dr. Benjamin Diamond, Roanoke; sister, Mrs. Beuna Goldberg, Silver Spring, Md.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Beth Israel Synagogue, 2 p.m. Thursday by Rabbi Jerome Fox. Burial will be in Beth Israel Cemetery. She was United in Marriage to Jennis Johnson. PERDUE, Hobert Jeff Sr., 81, of Route 8, Galax, died Monday, November 14, 1994, in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born at Stevens Creek Fries, Va. He resided in the Galax area for 60 years. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and his activities included Food Bank and chairing several committees such as Parsonage and The Church Steeple. Community activities in which he was involved included the Rui tan Club and the V.F.W. Mr. Perdue was a US Army veteran with service in Italy during World War II. During this time he received two bronze star medals and the purple heart. He was a retiree of Pilot Corporation serving 21 years with the company. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ward Perdue, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Hobert, Jr. and Mary Ann Perdue, Lenoir City, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David Duggins, Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren, Mitchell and Laura Perdue, Knoxville, Tenn., Angela and Joe Todd, Charlotte, N.C.; Allison Duggins, Charlotte, N.C.; Stephanie Perdue, Knoxville, Tenn.
