SALEM WOMAN REPORTS RAPE

A 31-year-old Salem woman told police she was raped in her vehicle at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Ninth Street Southwest.

Roanoke police gave the following account: The woman was at a downtown Roanoke nightclub and gave a ride to a man who said he was unfamiliar with the area. She said the man was wearing a white baseball cap, maroon jacket and jeans.

The woman told police she had driven several blocks when the man grabbed her, raped her in the truck, then walked away.

The woman was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, police said. There have been no arrests.
