DRUG SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN TO RADFORD POLICE

Timothy Richard Irwin, one of five college students charged after 18 pounds of marijuana were seized by the Montgomery County Drug Task Force last week, turned himself in to police Monday.

Task force members charged three Radford University students and two Virginia Tech students last week after seizing marijuana, $13,000 in cash and an assault rifle from a Downey Street apartment.

Three of the students were charged with possession of marijuana. A fourth was charged with possession with intent to distribute.

Irwin, a Radford University student, was charged with possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and possessing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a public school with intent to distribute. But police could not locate him immediately.

Irwin, 21, from Burke, turned himself in Monday morning at the Radford Police Department, his lawyer, Jimmy Turk, said. Irwin was released on $25,000 bond.
