TRANSPORTATION TOUR STOPS IN ROANOKE

Representatives of several state agencies concerned with transportation will be in Roanoke on Monday afternoon to hear the public's ideas on a statewide plan that will cover all areas of transportation, including highways, hiking and biking trails, shipping, railroads, and public transit.

The agencies will hold a public meeting from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room at the Roanoke Regional Airport.

Participants who park in the airport's short-term parking lot can have their parking tickets validated.

Representatives from the Virginia Port Authority and the state's departments of Transportation, Aviation, and Rail and Public Transportation will attend to hear residents' comments on development of the plan, which would guide the state's transportation policies through 2015.

Written comments can be sent to Richard C. Lockwood, VDOT Transportation Planning Division, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond 23219. For more information or assistance in attending the meeting, call (703) 387-5320 or, for TDD users, (800) 307-4630.
