BAYNE, Mary Horn, 85 of Lexington, died Saturday, December 10, 1994, in the Stonewall Jackson E.C.F. She was born August 16, 1909, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Ashby Horn and Virginia Riley Horn. Mrs. Bayne was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bayne, and a daughter, Lillian B. Phillips. Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, William H. and Jane Bayne, Frank L. and Shirley Bayne, all of Lexington; three sisters, Ruth Higgins, Lexington, Christine Roberts, Buena Vista, Mamie Canterbury, Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Ricie Horn, Fairfield; a gran dson, Sidney A. Hall, Cantonment, Fla; three great-grandchildren, Kelly, Christie and Lee Hall; a son-in-law, Noah Phillips, Raphine; a special niece and husband, Vickie and Jim Beale and son, Nelson Beale; a special nephew and wife, Michael and Susan McManama and children, Catherine and Melissa McManama. Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews both related and unrelated to whom she was affectionately known as ``Aunt Mary"". Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 1994, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. George H. Warden Jr. officiating. CARSON, Helen Ammar, 56, of Roanoke, died Saturday, December 10, 1994. She was the daughter, Fayaz K. and the late Helen P. Ammar of Bluefield, Va. and was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Leigh. Mrs. Carson was a graduate of the National Business College. Surviving are her husband, James O. Carson; daughter, Sandra Carson, Roanoke; son, Alan Carson, Lexington, N.C.; two granddaughters, Ashley and Ellery Carson, Lexington, N.C.; sisters, Fadwa A. Hartzog, Bluefield, W.Va., Melissa A. Robinnette, Tazewell; brother, Fayaz K. Ammar Jr., Franklin, Tenn.; three nieces; two nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 1994, at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gale D. Lammey officiating. COCHRAN, Oleta Fatima, 80, of Hillsville, passed away Friday, December 9, 1994, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born, May 6, 1914, to George Fulton and Beatrice Staples Cochran. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ruth Cochran and Sadie Wyrick, and brothers, Lawrence, Leff, Troy, Paul and Brady Cochran. She is survived by two brothers, Bob Cochran and Curtis Cochran, both of Hillsville; nieces Eva Hill, Helen Notchie, Estelle Burnette and Sue Davis; nephews, Benton Cochran, Pet e Wyrick, Garrett Cochran, Mickey Cochran, Lee Cochran, Glenn Cochran, Jerry Cochran, and Steven Cochran; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all survivors. She was retired from Sprague Electric Company and was an active, lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville, where she was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, and volunteered at the Golden Harvest Thrift Shop. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 1994, at the Hillsville First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nathan Malone officiating. He was a charter member of Stewartsville-Chamblissburg Fire Department, and retired from American Bridge Company (U. S. Steel). Dale Dearing and Laura Lynn Walker Dearing of Vinton; two grandchildren, Crystal Leigh Dearing of Vinton, and Mark Allen Dearing of Roanoke College; two stepgrandchildren, Jason Chad Helms and Jayme P. GRAYBEAL, D. Burke, 65, of Marion, died Saturday, December 10, 1994, in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was a substitute Judge for many years, attorney for Smyth County Community Hospital, and on the Smyth Bland Regional Library Board. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church having served in many capacities over the years, including being Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. He was a member of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Visitors of Emory and Henry College. He was a member of the Marion Rotary Club, having served as President and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by his wife, Anne Young Graybeal of Marion; two sons, Dan Graybeal and Dave Graybeal, both of Marion; three brothers, Dave Graybeal of Madison, N.J., J. Patrick Graybeal of Christiansburg, and Bill Graybeal of Vienna; a brother-in-law, Roland Houghton of Richmond. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 1994, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. J. N. Howard, the Rev. Pam Rhodes, the Rev. Peyton Rowlett and the Rev. Elmer and his brother, George Hardie were the owners and operators of Hardie Brothers Service Station on Williamson Road for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda S. Hardie. LANG, Gene Carl, 82, of Newport, Va., died at his home Saturday morning, December 10, 1994. Born in Giles County, Va., he was a son of the late Floyd and Maggie Lang. Surviving are his wife, Mary Neice Lang; two daughters, Linda Sue Bailey and Mary Ann Williams, both of Newport; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. RADER, James Morris, 79, of Radford, passed away Saturday, December 10, 1994. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the V.F.W. He was a retired brick mason. Survivors include his wife, Mary T. Rader of Radford; two stepchildren, Gerald Duncan of Radford, and Mrs. Jean Yost of Pearisburg; one sister, Miss Annis Rader of Christianburg; seven stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. SPRADLIN, Charles William, 84, of Stewartsville, died Saturday, December 10, 1994. Charles was born in Bedford County on December 24, 1909, a son of the late Lester M. and Mabel F. Spradlin. He was a well-known farmer, raising cattle on his Triple Hill Farm, and was a member of Mays Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of sixty-four years, Louise Johnson Spradlin; his son, Wilford W. Spradlin and his wife, Mary Lee; his daughters, Peggy Moles and her husband, James, Vivian Gobble and her husband, Lowell; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Edna Overstreet and Elna Spradlin. There has been a private memorial service. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. WALKER, Harold Wright, 69, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, December 10, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Walker was born in Nottoway County, Va. on November 20, 1925, the son of the late Luther Wright and Emma Kate Hamlett Walker. He was a retired faculty member of the Department of Agricultural Economics, and was an Associate Professor with the title of Extension Specialist, Farm Management at Virginia Tech with over 30 years service. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Frieda Acker Walker; six children and spouses, Janet Braden and Bruce Walker, both of Farmington, Ark., Hugh and Linda Walker, Christiansburg, Elizabeth Anne Walker, Blacksburg, Gail and John Lancaster, Cario, Egypt, and Charles Walker, Hampton; six sisters, Vera Isaacs, Carlsband, Calif., Anne Walker, Port Orange, Fla., Bunnie Eubank and Ruby Toone, both of Burkeville, Va., Shirley Millican, Victoria, Va., Agnes Cassada, Crew, Va.; nine grandchildren.
