HOBEIKA INQUIRY COULD BE NEAR END

State police said Tuesday they hope to complete their embezzlement investigation of the former director of Virginia Tech's Center of Transportation Research by Christmas.

Police filed a second search warrant a week ago in the case surrounding Antoine Hobeika, who as director of the center was at the forefrount of Tech's efforts to get the "smart" road built. The road potentially could bring millions of dollars in research money to the university.
