DAVIS, Walter John, 90, of Springwood, died Thursday, December 29, 1994. He is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Betty Davis of Columbus, Ohio, Arthur Davis of Buchanan, Robert Davis of Blacksburg, Rayfield and Gloria Davis of Columbus, Ohio, Harold and Brenda Davis of Springwood; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Julia and Roy Mills of Springwood, Myrtle and Joe McDaniel, Effie West all of Columbus, Ohio, Evelyn and LeRoy Washington of Springwood, Geraldine and Bernard Hunter of Buchanan, Carolyn Spinner of Roanoke; one brother, Robert Davis of Clifton Forge; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 2, 1995, 2 p.m. at the Jackson Baptist Church with the Rev. John Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A wake will be held Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan.

GREEN, Gertie Silvey, 71, of Buena Vista, died Friday, December 30, 1994, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born August 7, 1923 in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late Richard H. Silvey and Gertie Worth Silvey. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Buena Vista. Surviving are two sons, Clemeth Roberts and Franklin E. Roberts, both of Buena Vista; two sisters, Rosie D. Davis and Betty Burch, both of Buena Vista; one brother, Henry D. Silvey, Natural Bridge; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with Elder Alvin Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Born July 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Essie Reynolds Pruitt, Sr. He was retired from Home Lumber Company, Roanoke, Va. after 32 years service. He was preceded in death by his son, James Edward Pruitt, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Iva Jean (Ivy) Pruitt, Moneta, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judy Pruitt, and Michael and Faye Pruitt all of Moneta, Va.; two grandchildren, Melanie Bibby, Ma ss., and Adam Pruitt, Moneta, Va.; one great-grandchild, Matthew Bibby, Mass.; four sisters, Iva Eames and Eva Parker, both of Moneta, Va., Mary Dunford, Dry Fork, Va. and Josephine Trammell, Lexington, N.C.; five brothers, Robert Pruitt, Jr., Moneta, Va., Lewis Pruitt, Hardy, Va., Giles Pruitt, Moneta, Va., John Pruitt, Lexington, N.C. and Clyde Pruitt, Hardy, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 1995, at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel, Rocky Mount, Va. with Revs. J. D. Hunt, III and Steve Pasley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethelem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Moneta, Va.
