MCCOY LEADS HERITAGE PAST ROANOKE CATHOLIC

Jamie McCoy had 12 points and each Heritage played scored as the Pioneers rolled past the Roanoke Catholic 51-27 on Saturday night in the championship game of the Roanoke Valley Christian Holiday Invitational girls' basketball tournament.

The Celtics (5-3) only trailed by two in the first quarter before their shooting touch went cold. They scored only six points in the second and third periods. Roanoke Catholic also had foul problems as center Abby Dickson picked up two in the first quarter and another before halftime.

The taller Heritage players outrebounded the Celtics 51-20. The Pioneers are 5-3.

With 12 points, Teresa Monsour was the lone double-digit scorer for Roanoke Catholic.
