ADAMS, Archie Frantz, 72, of Rocky Mount, died at his residence Monday, January 9, 1995. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tone and Ada Frantz Adams; two sisters, Barbara DelPapa and Rebecca Dinner. Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, and retired from the U. S. Postal Service after serving 29 years. Surviving are his wife, Lena Harrison Adams; his sisters, Evelyn Arsenault, Knoxville, Tenn., Adeen Selden, Penhook, Polly Kahle, Christiansburg, Josephine Adams, Hampton; two brothers, Sneed Adams, Bedford, retired Lt. Col. Paul Adams, Hampton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buford and Nancy Harrison, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William K. Dawson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. BALDWIN, Bruce Vance Jr., 68, of Roanoke, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, January 8, 1995. Beloved father and devoted husband, Mr. Baldwin was a veteran of World War II, a member and deacon of First Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen Bowman Baldwin; son, Robert Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Renee Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Dale Arrington; five grandchildren, Greg Baldwin, Traci and husband, Mike Rose, Kevin Baldwin, Sheri Arrington, Keith Arrington; one great-grandchild, Dustin Baldwin, all local. BERKSTRESSER, Raymond Edward, (``Berky""), 82, of Vesuvius, died Monday, January 9, 1995, in a Waynesboro nursing home. He was born on January 18, 1912, in Shirlesburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William E. Berkstresser and Cora (Vaughn) Berkstresser. Mr. Berkstresser was retired from the Robertson-Fowler Construction Company, Buchanan. Survivors include his wife, Helen Louise (Shoemaker) Berkstresser; and three sons, Lee Everett Berkstresser, Lynchburg, Robert Jordan Berkstresser, Lexin gton, and Ray Martin Berkstresser, Glasgow; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Jean Ponton, Cumberland, Maryland; nine grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Berkstresser was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1995, at the graveside in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. George Carter and the Rev. Daniel Stanley officiating. Born October 9, 1909, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late William Brackenridge Coleman and Martha Catherine Reynolds Coleman. Surviving are one sister, Kate Coleman Edwards; nine nieces; and six nephews; several great and great-great nieces and nephews. COLLIER, Elmer Ray, 76, of Narrows, died Monday, January 9, 1995, in the VA Care Center in Salem. He was born in Carroll County, on June 25, 1918, and was the son of the late Oacar Cleve and Mattie Jane Collier. He was a past president of the Wolf Creek Ruritan Club, and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janetta Warner Collier, and a brother, Clyde Collier. He is survived by two sons, Kevin D. Collier, Narrows, Elmer Ray Collier Jr., Richmond; a daughter, Judy C. Kleen, Elliston; two brothers, Marvin Collier, Tazewell, Avis Collier, Dugspur; two sisters, Laura Michael, Morgantown, W.Va., Lila Edmonds, Fairmont, W.Va.; two grandchildren. He was born in Narrows on March 8, 1912, and was the son of the late Erastus Brown and Amanda Victoria French Pruett. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows and the Century Lodge, I.O.O.F. of Houston, Texas. He was a retired supervisor of maintenance at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alene East Pruett, Houston, Texas; a son, Danny M. Purett, Waco, Texas; and a daughter, Judy P. Bortle, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Darrell J.
