RIDE 'EM COWBOY: The Sports Writers of America voted bull riding the "most dangerous sporting event in America." Catch the heart-stopping action tonight through Sunday as daredevil cowboys, some weighing as little as 140 pounds, pit their wits against up to a ton of twisting, bucking bull and vie for a $26,000 purse in the Budweiser Stampede Championship Rodeo at the Salem Civic Center. Other contests and events will include team roping; steer wrestling; calf roping; saddle bronc riding; barrel racing and bareback bronc riding. Competitors will include World's Champion Bareback Rider Mark Crater and six-time World Champion Steer Wrestler Dale Yerrigan. Show times are tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Reserved seating is $12.50 and $9.50, with a $3 discount for children and seniors. Call 375-3004.

A FAMILY AFFAIR: Music composed by father, Johann Sebastian Bach; sons, C.P.E., W.F. and J.C. Bach, and grandson W.F.E. AIN'T LOVE GRAND?: Two teen-agers gingerly dissecting a frog and their sex lives; a bridegroom who finds that he loves the bridesmaid rather than the bride; and a man anticipating a vasectomy, surrounded by an inept doctor, an irate pregnant nurse, and the doctor's madly jealous wife are all part of "Impassioned Embraces," written by "Agnes of God" author John Pielmeier and performed by the Floyd Theatre Guild. THE DEBATE GOES ON: It's 1984 in South Africa and teacher, Mr. M., arranges a debate between a white middle-class girl and a black high school boy from the ghetto. The acclaimed New York acting troupe A Mixed Company explores the unrest and confrontations of this turbulent period in playwright Athol Fugard's "My Children! My Africa!" The performance at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Olin Theater, Roanoke College, Salem, will cost $8. Call 375-2333. OPPOSITES ATTRACT: "KEELY AND DU," using adult language and themes, examines the irreconcilable differences and underlying humanity that challenge and compel two very different women to form between them a bond.
