GILES ROARS TO UPSET OF AUBURN

Anthony Myers and Josh Stephens combined for more than half of Giles' points Monday night as the Spartans upset Auburn 85-74 in a Three Rivers District boys' basketball game.

Stephens finished with 24 points and Myers added 22 for the Spartans (4-6 overall,1-1 district), who outscored Auburn 24-9 in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead.

Raypheal Milton had 11 for Giles, and teammates Aaron Myers and John King each chipped in 10.

Auburn (8-4, 1-1) was led by Terry Millirons, who scored a game-high 33 points. Kenny Wojciechowski and Jon Reed each added 13.

HILLSVILLE - Brian Harman, Travis Cantrell and Ben Kiser hit big free throws in the final 1:50 to lift the Buffaloes over the Cavaliers in a non-district game.

Harman, who finished with a game-high 22, hit two free throws, and Cantrell hit two to help the Buffaloes stave off Carroll County's upset bid.

The Cavaliers (4-8) trailed by five at halftime, but Floyd went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter and led by 11 going into the fourth.

Casey McCreary, who scored 15 points, and Kevin Dalton, who added 10, combined to scored 13 of the Cavaliers' 19 fourth-quarter points as Carroll County cut the lead to two late in the game before Harman, Cantrell and Kiser iced the game by hitting their free throws.

Jamie Warren added 19 points for the Buffaloes. Ryan Morris and Matt Larrowe each chipped in 16 for the Cavaliers, who played without center Anthony Thomas. Thomas quit the team last week for personal reasons.

Fort Chiswell 69

Narrows 67

FORT CHISWELL - Jody Burnett sank a basket with nine seconds left as Fort Chiswell edged Narrows in a Mountain Empire District game.

Burnett finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Pioneers (6-4, 2-0).

The teams played closely throughout until Fort Chiswell took an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter. Narrows pulled to two as the Pioneers missed five free throws late in the final period. After Burnett's basket, Patrick Bailey missed a shot to tie the score for the Green Wave.

Scott Vaught scored 19 to lead Narrows, and Bailey added 18.

Tony Chrisley had 16 for Fort Chiswell.

DUBLIN - Jodie Hallett scored 17 points and Carrie McConnell added 15 as Pulaski County (12-1) whipped Heritage in a girls' non-district game.

Jamie McCoy had 14 to lead Heritage.
