BUCHANAN, Virgie Adeline (Wiseman), 83, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, January 26, 1995 at her residence. She was born on January 6, 1912 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late William Beard Wiseman and Pearly Arehart Wiseman Wade. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lexington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Buchanan Sr. in 1990. Also, two brothers, Tolarce J. Wiseman and Ernest B. Wiseman; three sisters, Katie Wiseman Myers, Loetta Wiseman Wetsel and Zola Wiseman Brown. Survivors include two sons, Robert Earl ``Bob"" Buchanan Jr., Knoxville, Tenn. and Charles William ``Bill"" Buchanan, Lexington; two brothers, C. Andrew Wiseman, Waynesboro and Robert Lee Wiseman, Roanoke; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Wiseman Wade, Rockbridge Baths; four grandchildren, Mrs. Alicia Marlowe Buchanan Shires, Lexington, Mrs. Larissa Anne Buchanan Ferguson, Johnson City, Tenn., Ms. Nicholette Adonia Buchanan, Knoxville, Tenn., and Ms. Jessica Katelin Buchanan, Lexington; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mrs. Linda S. Clark, Buena Vista. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 30, 1995, in the Williams Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Brian K. Peterson and the Rev. Dr. Thomas G. HUMPHRIES, Dorothy Glenn, 73, of Roanoke, died Saturday, January 28, 1995, at home. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas Jackson Humphries; four children, Dorothy (``Pat"") Lawrence, Catherine (``Katie"") Highfill, John W. Humphries, all of Roanoke, Tom Humphries, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Coleman, Andrew, and Maria Lawrence, John and Austin Humphries, Owen and Jeff Highfill. Burial will be private, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church with Dr. F. Tupper Garden and the Rev. Arthur E. Grant officiating. KASEY, Irving Coleman, of Bedford, died Saturday, January 28, 1995, at the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born February 15, 1942 to Irving Mack and Annie Bates Kasey. He was preceded in death by his father, Irving Mack Kasey. He leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Julia Johnson Kasey; his mother, Annie Bates Kasey; one son, Raymond K. Kasey, all of Bedford; one daughter, Valerie K. Jackson, Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother, Dennis L. Kasey of Roanoke; four sisters, Louvenia K. Nellums of Richmond, Bessie K. KLEE, Ethel M., 86, recently of Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, died Friday afternoon, January 27, 1995, after a lengthy illness. She was born and lived most of her life in New Jersey. Ethel is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Steve Wadovsky of Bristol Tenn.; two grandchildren, Karen Wadovsky of Christiansburg, and Sharon Barney of Basking Ridge, N.J.; a close family friend, Donna Carter of Christiansburg; two sisters, Barbara Lent and Elizabeth Skok; two brothers, Edgar and wife, Rita Sheldon, and Donovan and wife, Frances Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews, all of New Jersey. MEREDITH, Hattie Louise, 88, of the Spruce Run Community near Newport, died Thursday evening, January 26, 1995, following a long illness. Born in Giles County on July 12, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Maryjane Weiss Vaught. She was the wife of the late Robert Lee Meredith and mother of the late James Robert Meredith. She was a member of the Spruce Run Holiness Church. Surviving are one son, William D. (``Bill"") Meredith of Christiansburg; two daughters, Helen Louise McClaugherty of Christiansburg and Christine Morris and son-in-law, Ronald Morris of Roanoke; one brother, Roy Vaught of Blacksburg; two sisters, Lillie Harless of Elliston and Margie Barnett of McCoy; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; tw o great-great-grandchildren; and two special caring friends Karen Long Kelly and Lee Ellen Kelly of Glen Lyn. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 30, in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke with the Rev. Layne Board and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. SKEENS, Frederick Leon, 54, of Narrows, died Saturday morning, January 28, 1995, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born at Narrows on May 16, 1940. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Mark Woodyard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows, where he had 30 years of perfect attendance at the church. He was a member of the Narrows Lions Club and was the Grand Marshall at the Annual Christmas Parade in Narrows this past Christmas, and was the official greeter at Anna's Restaurant in Narrows. He is survived by his family, Jerry and Anna Lee Frazier of Narrows, Kelly and Beth Frazier and family, Narrows, Scott and Pat Frazier and family, Raleigh, N.C., Bryan and Crissy Frazier and family, Jacksonville, N.C., Wade Frazier, Rich Creek; two very special aunts, Sadie Frazier and Eula Pratt, both of Narrows. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows, with the Rev. Ralph Kidd and the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. SMITH, W. Ware, 89, of Roanoke, died Saturday, January 28,1995. He was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, Class of 1926, and a retired District Traffic Manager with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia with 38 years service. Mr. Smith was a retired Colonel of the U. S. Army, serving in the Signal Corps during World War II and an Elder at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Bruner Smith; a son, W. Ware Smith Jr., Roanoke; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Arrington Bruner Smith, New Orleans, LA., Ruth Mason Smith, Washington, D.C., and W. Ware Smith III, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church with Dr. F. Tupper Garden and Dr. James A. Allison Jr. officiating. WALTERS, Leonard Lee, 82, of Bent Mountain, passed away Friday, January 27, 1995 at Richfield Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Smith Walters. Mr. Walters retired from the Virginia Highway Department. Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Luther and Betty Walters, Longwood, Fla., Howard Walters, Asheville, N.C., Russell Walters, Roanoke, Gary and Vicki Walters, Salem; four daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Ercil Poff, Salem, Gertie and Joseph Manning, Roanoke, Myrtle and James Underwood, Roanoke, Barbara and Kenneth Conner, Pilot; one sister, Irene Vest, Check; two brothers, Buster Walters, Bent Mountain, George Walters, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. WOLFE, Henry Earnest, 69, of Roanoke, passed away in the V A Medical Center Friday, January 27, 1995. Mr. Wolfe was a retired S/Sgt. after 30 yea rs in the USMC. He served in WWII, the Korean War and the Viet-Nam Conflict. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Mr. Wolfe was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1264 in Roanoke. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth English Wolfe. Also surviving are a daughter, Doris Wolfe Maurer and husband, Kenneth Maurer; a stepson, David L. Miller and wife, Anita J. (Marcy) Miller; four grandchildren, Dawn Michelle Miller, Michael David Miller, Brandon Aaron Miller, Kyle James Maurer; and sisters, Kate Willis, Ruth Kirby and Mildred Palmer. Mr. Wolfe also leaves behind a host of special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Vinton Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday from the Beaverdam Church Cemetery in Chamblissburg, Va.
