MASKED MAN ROBS MELROSE NATIONSBANK

A man carrying a pillowcase and wearing a ski mask and gloves robbed the NationsBank branch at 2206 Melrose Ave. N.W. on Thursday afternoon, Roanoke police said.

The man entered the bank about 12:40 p.m., threw the pillowcase at a teller, told her to fill it with money, then ordered employees to get down on the floor. No weapon was displayed, and there were no customers in the bank at the time, police said. No one was injured.

The robber left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money stuffed into the pillowcase. The FBI is helping investigate.
