PHOTO IS BEST IN CITY ART SHOW

Page Chichester's color photograph, "Green Night, Covington," has been named Best in Show at the annual Roanoke City Art Show, which opened Friday at the Art Museum of Western Virginia.

The Roanoke artist will receive a $500 prize for the moody work, which shows a wood frame house against a background of bright light and smokestacks from a nearby paper plant.

Slated to receive awards of excellence and $200 cash are Jamie Nervo Cohan, for "A Game of Dodge the Truck"; David B. Dooley, for "Industrial Dusk"; Ben Flora, for "Untitled, #3"; M.E. Plitt, for "Fire Walkers"; and Judy Bates, for "St. Anthony's Vista, #1."

The show, judged by Jack Cowart, deputy director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C ., runs through May 21.
