The Roanoke artist will receive a $500 prize for the moody work, which shows a wood frame house against a background of bright light and smokestacks from a nearby paper plant.
Slated to receive awards of excellence and $200 cash are Jamie Nervo Cohan, for "A Game of Dodge the Truck"; David B. Dooley, for "Industrial Dusk"; Ben Flora, for "Untitled, #3"; M.E. Plitt, for "Fire Walkers"; and Judy Bates, for "St. Anthony's Vista, #1."
The show, judged by Jack Cowart, deputy director of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C ., runs through May 21.
