CONSTRUCTION TO CHANGE TRAFFIC PATTERNS

Weather permitting, the southbound entrance to the Roy L. Webber Highway (U.S. 220) from Elm Avenue, which takes Roanoke traffic toward Towers Shopping Center, will be closed tonight at 8. It will reopen Friday at 6 a.m.

The shoulder of U.S. 220 southbound will be paved as part of construction to add a third lane to the highway.

Southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane.

In other construction, Hollins Road at the railroad crossing near the Norfolk Southern Corp. East End shops will be closed beginning Monday. The road will be closed for six months while the adjacent bridge over Lick Run is replaced. There will be no detour. For access to and from downtown, motorists can use Orange Avenue and Williamson Road.
