A city police report said three juveniles were arrested Thursday after an officer noticed the teen-agers' suspicious behavior while driving on Sixth Street Southeast. The youths spotted the officer looking at them, and as the officer turned to follow them, they threw various items out their car window.
The items later were identified as tapes and stereo items that had been reported stolen from parked cars in several lots.
Most of the thefts occurred in Southwest Roanoke and downtown Roanoke, including the upper and lower levels at Towers Mall, the WSLS (Channel 10) lot, the Virginia state parking lot on Marshall Avenue and the lot used by the Police Academy at the Jefferson Center on Luck Avenue.
Two of the juveniles were placed in the Youth Bureau Detention Center. The police report didn't say whether the third was being held.
