Colonels' coach Rickey Broussard said Jackson, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound senior, is suffering from a stretched ligament in his big toe and is questionable for today's 2:35 p.m. tipoff.
``It's really affecting his movement,'' Broussard said. ``He hasn't practiced in two days. Today was the first day he's stepped on the floor.''
Jackson was injured against Stephen F. Austin in the semifinals of the Southland Conference tournament but returned to score 28 points against Northeast Louisiana in the final.
``Toward the end of the game you could see that his mobility was really wearing,'' Broussard said.
``I know he's going to try to play, but he's struggling. He was in tremendous pain for the championship game. Just when he walks, he's limping. It's a big concern.''
Broussard left the impression that Jackson would start and play as long as he could. The Colonels' top frontcourt substitute, sophomore Kendrick Davis, also is questionable after injuring his back in a dunking exhibition.
Jackson, the 75th player in Division I history to score more than 2,000 points and grab more than 1,000 rebounds, leads the Colonels with 22 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
``This is the first I've heard of it,'' Virginia coach Jeff Jones said of Jackson's injury. ``From watching him play, he's so hard and so tough that, if there's any way for him to play, he would.''
