TECH APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR FOR NORTHERN VA. CENTER

Virginia Tech has appointed a new director for its Northern Virginia Graduate Center.

Judy C. Pearson takes over Aug. 1. She is expected to spend two weeks at Tech in June and July.

She comes to the 2,000-student Falls Church-based center from Ohio University, where she is director of graduate studies and research.

As a researcher, Pearson is noted for her work in communication across cultures and genders. She has written 28 books, among them ``Lasting Love: What Keeps Couples Together.''
