Discovery Zone

Discovery Zone Inc., Chicago operator of children's indoor playgrounds and fitness centers with an outlet in Roanoke County, reported a net loss of $24.9 million, equal to 53 cents per share, on revenue of $180.6 million in 1994 compared with year-earlier net income of $3.3 million, or 8 cents per share, on revenue of $61.6 million. For its fourth quarter, the net loss was $10.1 million, equal to 22 cents per share, on revenue of $55.2 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $1.1 million, or 2 cents per share, on revenue of $25.5 million.

Hoechst Celanese

Hoechst Celanese Corp., Somerville, N.J., operator of a cigarette filter fibers plant at Narrows, reported a net loss of $186 million on sales of $7.79 billion in 1994, compared with year-earlier earnings of $101 million on sales of $6.90 billion. The affiliate of Hoechst AG of Germany does not report per-share earnings for its U.S. business. The company said its fibers and film segment reported operating income of $359 million on sales of $3.39 billion last year, compared with year-earlier operating income of $415 million on sales of $3.10 billion.
