BASHAM, Randolph Carl, 77, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 20, 1995. Mr. Basham retired from the United States Navy with 20 years military service, was retired from the V.A. Medical Center, Salem, and was a member of the VFW Post #1264. Surviving are his wife, Lucy B. Basham; a sister, Mabel Hartman, Chesapeake; a brother-in-law, James M. Stump, Vinton; a special friend, Sue. Graveside services will be held in Evergreen Burial Park Saturday, April 22, 1995, 3 p.m. with Chaplain Cecil Irwin officiating. CARROLL, Nelson O., 82, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 1995. Surviving are his wife, Mildred H. Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret C. (``Maggie"") and Gary L. Drewry, Roanoke; brother, William R. Carroll, Richmond. Funeral services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cave Spring Rescue Squad (P.O. CARTER, Alfred Stewart, 71, of Route 2, Rocky Mount, passed away on Friday, April 21, 1995 following a short illness. Mr. Carter recently retired from Moore's Building and Supply Company of Collinsville, Va. Mr. Carter was born in Bluefield, W. Va., the son of Alfred S. and Elsa Peck Carter. He graduated from Beaver High School and attended college in Colorado. He served in the European Theatre of the U. S. Army in 1943 to 1945. He was awarded the bronze star and other awards. Surviving are his wife, Aileen Anderson Carter; two children, Steven Craig Carter, Chapmansville, W. Va. and Lisa A. Abbatello, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Amanda Carter, Joseph Abbatello IV. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Goad; and is survived by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. a t Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount.

MORAN, Winona Hale, 85, of Salem, died Friday, April 21, 1995 at Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was a homemaker and a life-long member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church and member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, where she was a former secretary. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William Clyde Moran; a sister, Hazel M. Basham, Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services 3 p.m. Sunday at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Leonard L. Southern officiating. Burial will follow in the Butt's Family Cemetery. PLASTERS, John C., 92, of Meadows of Dan, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, April 19, 1995. He was born April 16, 1903 to the late John B. Plasters and Mintoria Cockram Plasters. He is preceded in death by two daughters, Bessie Mae Plasters and Artie P. Milton; one son, James Plasters; and two brothers, George W. Plasters and Oakley H. Plasters. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Rosa Hundley Pasters, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. James (Nadean) Gilbert, of Patrick Springs, Mrs. Lucille Bowman and Mrs. Jane Clifton, both of Floyd and Mrs. Steve (Shirley) Meade, San Angela, Texas; one son, Billy Wayne Plasters and daughter-in-law, Sherry, of Vesta; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren also survives. Mr. Plasters was a retired demolition expert and a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge Blue Ridge Chapter #54 IOOF. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m . at Moody's Chapel conducted by Elder Carlene Vass and Elder J.M. Vipperman. Burial will be in the Plasters Memorial Cemetery at Vesta. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart and other times at the home in Meadows of Dan. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas Milton, Jimmy Gilbert, Galen Gilbert, Darrell Moran, Richard Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Johnny Plasters, Dale Plasters, and Dwayne Clifton.

WOOD, Otis Darrell, (``O.D.''), 78, of 6216 Yorkshire Dr., of Columbia S.C., a former resident of Roanoke for 40 years, died Thursday, April 20, 1995. He was born in Caswell, N.C. and was a son of the late Robert Otis and Anna Elizabeth Johnson Wood. He retired from Greyhound after 37 years of service and was a volunteer fireman at Cave Spring Fire Department. He was a member of Palmetto Baptist Temple. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Payne Wood, Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Rev. Darrell P. Wood, Columbia, S.C., and Michael Wood, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Beth Carter, Roanoke; a brother, Garland Wood, Danville; three sisters, Berkly Taylor, Danville, Mary Spoonhower, San Diego, Calif., and Rachel Friedman, Washington, D.C.; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. in Palmetto Baptist Temple with burial in Greenlawn Me morial Park ANNEX.
