A skinny dog, limp from smoke inhalation, got his coat toweled down by emergency workers Friday night after being pulled from the B&R Used Tires store at 2904 Williamson Road N.W. Firefighters gave the dog oxygen and revived him in a matter of minutes. The dog belongs to renters at the B&R building.
Fire Chief James A. Patton said the fire was accidental, and no one but the dog suffered any injuries. Damage to the building was estimated at $500, Patton said.
Another fire call sent crews to an abandoned building next to the American Chemical Co., where a minor fire caused more smoke than actual damage. According to a fire department spokesman, trash in the building had caught fire. The cause was unknown.
