FIRE DEATH PROBED AS HOMICIDE

Roanoke police are investigating as an arson homicide the death of a Roanoke woman at her Old Southwest Roanoke apartment Saturday morning.

The medical examiner has determined that the victim, Brenda Ann Davis, 40, of 369 Washington Ave. S.W., died from smoke inhalation, police said.

Fire Department investigators reported earlier that the fire at the apartment where Davis' body was found had characteristics of arson, police said.

No arrests have been made, and police would not comment on a possible motive or whether they have any suspects.
