MEMORIAL DAY POKER RUN TO D.C. BEGINS IN DUBLIN|

The United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 2069 and the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 138 will kick off Memorial Day weekend by hosting a poker run from Dublin to Washington on Saturday, May 27. The group will also participate in the Rolling Thunder VIII Memorial Day Parade.

The run will start at 8:30 a.m. in front of the UAW Hall on Cougar Trail Road in Dublin with three designated stops en route. The last stop will be at Shoney's Inn in Manassas, where the group will stay for the Memorial Day weekend.

This will be the New River Valley Veterans Committee's eight Rolling Thunder Parade. They will take a show truck courtesy of Volvo Heavy Truck Corp. for the parade. This unit was recently displayed at a truck show in St. Louis, Mo.

The group will attend several activities and participate in programs while in Washington, including a concert in front of the Lincoln Memorial, a Memorial Day parade and the wreath laying ceremony at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington Cemetery.

Members will also visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial where they will hold the annual memorial service as a tribute to those whose names appear on the monument that lost their lives in Vietnam and the POW/MIA's still unaccounted for.

For more information about the program and to participate call Tom Parsons at 731-3213, Bobby Ward at 980-4306 or Jeff Walke at 980-4367.
