Claytor cleanup

DUBLIN - Everyone who uses or lives on Claytor Lake is encouraged to participate in Claytor Lake Clean-Up Day on June 10. Volunteers will be at the public marinas between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. giving out trash bags and helping unload filled bags.

A barge will pick up barrels, furniture and appliances which are in the lake. Please contact one of the coordinators with item and location. The county will remove large logs if they are securely tied up at marked drop off sites. The volunteers can provide specific information.

Rewards for bringing in bags of trash from the lake on June 10 include a rooted boxwood cutting for one bag of trash; tickets for a dinner cruise for five bags of glass, metal, cans or plastic; and a year's pass to Claytor Lake State Park for 10 bags of glass, metal or plastic from the lake.

Work gloves, sleeved shirts, shoes, hats and protection sun lotion should be worn. For more details, call Dean Jackson at 980-1575, Judy Furr at 639-4864 or Mike Spraker at 980-1172.
