SEAMAN BRADLEY WALKER, son of Janet Walker of 5466 Yale Drive, Salem, recently qualified as plane captain with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 120 based in Norfolk. Walker is a 1990 graduate of Glenvar High School.

STAFF SGT. RANDOLPH P. KENT III, son of Anita S. Weikel of Troutville, has been named noncommissioned officer of the quarter at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, N.C.

Selection is based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement and other accomplishments.

Kent, a weapons load crew chief, is a 1986 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and earned an associate's degree in 1995 from the Community College of the Air Force.

SEAMAN APPRENTICES CHRISTOPHER T. McVEY and RICHARD E. ELLIS have graduated from training at the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

McVey is the son of John T. and Betty F. McVey of Vinton, and Ellis is the son of James R. and Betty H. Ellis of Vinton. Both are 1994 graduates of William Byrd High School.

LANCE CPL. LARRY M. WORRELL, son of Larry M. and Priscilla H. Worrell of Roanoke, returned recently from a six-month deployment that included duty off the coast near Bosnia-Herzegovina while serving with a Marine Expeditionary Unit.

He is a 1991 graduate of William Byrd High School.

SGT. DENNIS S. WILEY, son of Harvey Barbour of Roanoke, returned recently from a six-month deployment that included duty off the coast near Bosnia-Herzegovina while serving with a Marine Expeditionary Unit.

PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS MARIDEL G. BIVENS, daughter of Eduardo and Flordelzia Veloso of Roanoke, has earned the Navy good conduct medal, which recognizes honest and faithful service during a four-year period.

Bivens is a 1990 graduate of Salem High School.

LANCE CPL. KEITH M. AYERS, son of Roy W. and Randy K. Ayers of Roanoke, returned recently from a six-month deployment that included duty off the coast near Bosnia-Herzegovina while serving with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.

He is a 1991 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

SENIOR AIRMAN KIMBERLY N. ESTEP, daughter of Roger L. and Lillian A. Nipper of Troutville, has earned an associate's degree from the Community College of the Air Force.

Estep is a security police traffic administrator at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, N.C., and a 1990 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

AIRMAN APPRENTICE CHRISTOPHER M. BRADLEY, son of Tommy C. and Patricia S. Bradley of Roanoke, recently graduated from the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Naval Air Station Memphis in Millington, Tenn.

He is a 1993 graduate of Northside High School.

PFC. RICHARD M. ANDERSON, son of Richard M. and Jeannine H. Anderson of Roanoke, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1988 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.

PVT. DANIEL P. ROGERS, son of Daniel E. Rogers and Linda Muse of Roanoke, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1990 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

LARRY A. HALL, a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.
