RAVER PLEADS NO CONTEST TO DRUG CHARGE

A 19-year-old Lynchburg man pleaded no contest Thursday in Roanoke County Circuit Court to a charge of distributing the drug commonly known as Ecstasy.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Leach said undercover officers arrested Christoper G. Schrader at a rave Feb. 5 at Olympic Skate Center in Vinton.

The officers observed a drug deal between Schrader and another man in the restroom, Leach said. As the officers approached, Schrader dropped a plastic bag containing four pills that later were determined to be Ecstasy, a stimulant and mild hallucinogen. Police said they also found $873 in Schrader's pockets.

Defense attorney Ray Ferris said Schrader was not part of a larger commercial drug enterprise.

Schrader will remain free on bond until he is sentenced July 20.
