FEW COMMENT ON PROPOSED GILES COUNTY BUDGET|

Just a handful of Giles County residents attended a public hearing held by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday night.

Board members invited the public to comment on the proposed 1995-96 budget. The board must decide on the $28,512,412 budget, nearly two-thirds of which is allocated to the School Board, by July 1.

Of the few who did attend, most residents disagreed with money allocated for the Castle Rock recreation area.

Funding for the swimming pool and golf course area was increased this year by $66,473, from $402,748. Speakers argued the cost was too high. Board members said the increase was added for major capital improvements.

In other business, two incumbent School Board members were appointed for brief six-month terms.

J.B. Buckland and Phillip Morris will serve from July to January. Newly elected members will take over in January.
