GUIDES SOUGHT FOR ART EXHIBIT

African-art enthusiasts are wanted to serve as volunteer tour guides during the "Spirit of the Motherland: African Art from the Virginia Museum" exhibit Sept. 22-Dec. 31 at the Art Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke. Extensive knowledge of African art is not required.

Prospective guides will attend training sessions on Sept. 19, 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.; Sept. 27, 10 a.m. - noon; and Oct. 5, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and will be asked to provide at least four one-hour tours between Oct. 6 and Dec. 15. Museum officials hope the temporary experience will lead volunteers to make a long-term commitment to the museium's docent guild.

For additional information and applications, contact volunteer coordinator Sheryl Perry, 342-5795, or director of education Mark Scala, 224-1222.
