17-YEAR-OLD BOY CHARGED IN CRASH THAT KILLED SISTER

The 17-year-old driver of a car that flipped over, killing two of its passengers and injuring a third, has been charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and drunken driving, the state police said.

The four teens were returning from a family wedding Saturday when the driver lost control of the car on Virginia 608 in King George County.

Erika Tamayo, 18, of Stafford County died at the scene. Julie K. Jones, 15, also of Stafford County, was flown to Fairfax Hospital, where she died a short time later, the state police said.

A third county teen, Molly Gill, 15, suffered a severe spinal injury, state police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said Monday. Gill also was taken to Fairfax Hospital.

The driver, who was not identified by the state police because of his age, received only minor injuries.

The Free-Lance Star of Fredericksburg identified the driver as Jeffrey Jones, the brother of Julie Jones. He received only minor injuries. The four were returning from the wedding of the Jones' older sister, the state police said.

According to Caldwell, the car was heading north on Virginia 608 when the driver ran off the right side of the road while going around a curve. Caldwell said the driver then overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, hit an embankment and flipped several times.

None of the teen-agers was wearing a seat belt, trooper Shannon Davis said.
